On October 20, 2025, at approximately 3:46 P.M., a Duluth Police officer received a report of a school bus stop arm violation having occurred in the area of 47th Ave E and Oneida St in the City of Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. The officer spoke to the reporting party, a supervisor for the bus company, who indicated that a a Silver Ford Fusion with MN plate DWC766 had driven past a school bus while its stop arm was fully extended with red lights flashing. The reporting party indicated that at the time the suspect vehicle passed the school bus, there were children who had exited the bus and were standing on 47th Ave E waiting to cross the street.
The reporting party indicated that at the time of the violation the bus was facing northbound on 47th Ave E, and the suspect vehicle had driven southbound on 47th Ave E past the school bus. The officer reviewed video from the school bus, which corroborated the account of the reporting party. The officer went to the address of the registered owner of the suspect vehicle and made contact with BRENDAN MICHAEL JOHNSON, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. The defendant admitted to driving the Ford Fusion during the violation, and indicated that he had not noticed the stop arm.
