On December 13, 2025, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a gun-pointing incident that had occurred on east I-94 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party (“Victim”) relayed that a dark Hyundai four-door passenger car had cut Victim off. Victim provided a license plate for the Hyundai, which registered to a 2021 Hyundai Elantra. Victim had honked his horn when the Hyundai cut off Victim. Victim reported that a white male wearing a dark beanie style hat, dark sunglasses, and with facial hair on his chin had pointed a black 9mm Glock firearm at Victim.
Shortly after the initial call, other law enforcement personnel located the Hyundai parked at the registered address in New Brighton, Minnesota. In the driver’s seat, officers located the registered owner—Defendant ALEC DAVID EARDLEY, born on [DOB REDACTED]. In the Hyundai’s glovebox, law enforcement located a loaded black 9mm Glock firearm. Law enforcement noted a strong smell of smoked marijuana coming from the Hyundai and saw a “rolling plate” on the driver’s side floorboard. In a backpack on the rear passenger floorboard, law enforcement located marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
After transporting Defendant to jail, a trooper noted that Defendant had lack of convergence in both eyes, that he had bloodshot and water eyes, that his eyes appeared dilated, and that his pulse measured 92 beats per minute. Defendant’s clinical impairment matched his physical indicators, including the odor of marijuana and a lethargic appearance. An aggravating factor exists because Defendant has one prior impaired driving conviction from December 9, 2024, in Ramsey County District Court file #••-CR-••-••••. Based on the allegations involving Defendant pointing a firearm on a highway, the State requests that a warrant issue.
