On September 30, 2025, at approximately 12:14 P.M., Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a domestic assault at a residence located within Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers observed a broken door and a broken TV. H. C., hereinafter Victim, stated that her ex- boyfriend, JOHNTA SHANNON CHATMAN, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, had entered her home and punched her on the right side of the face. The Defendant believed the Victim [NAME REDACTED]. The Defendant initially left the apartment.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the Defendant returned, broke the Victim's door, and grabbed something from the Victim's bathroom. The Victim was visibly fearful of the Defendant. Officers located the Defendant near the residence. The Defendant admitted to breaking the Victim's door and pushing the Victim. The Defendant denied punching the Victim. The Victim is one of the Defendant's family or household members under Minn. Stat. 518B.01, subd. 2, as the Defendant and Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant has two prior qualified domestic abuse related offense convictions within the last ten years, to wit: On July 26, 2024, the Defendant was convicted of MSD 5th Degree Assault in Court File Number 02-CR- 22-6090; and On January 3, 2017, the Defendant was convicted of Domestic Assault in Woodbury County, IA in Court File 03-971-AGCR-095045.
