All of the conduct described herein occurred within the County of St. Louis, State of Minnesota, unless otherwise noted. On June 13, 2026, at approximately 1:49 AM, Duluth police officers responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota, on the report of a physical domestic assault. The reporting party was identified as an adult female born in 1984, hereinafter referred to as the Victim. The Victim reported to 911 that the suspect had beaten her up and caused an injury to her leg.
The Victim flagged down the responding officers in the area of the Lenox Apartments near the 700 block of West Superior Street. The Victim identified the suspect as CODY ALLEN WRIGHT, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter referred to as the Defendant. The Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been staying in the Goat Hill area in a tent with the Defendant for the past three days. The Victim explained that she and the Defendant had been in a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship for about four years. She stated that the Defendant has been going through a rough patch in life recently and she was helping him through it.
Just prior to the Victim’s 911 call, the Victim [NAME REDACTED] had brought another female to the tent and said he had a better relationship with her then he has with the Victim. This comment upset the Victim [NAME REDACTED] told the Defendant that she was done with him and wanted nothing more to do with him. An argument ensued, during which the Defendant grabbed the Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the shoulder area, picked her up off the ground, and threw her inside the tent. The Defendant followed her into the tent and forcibly pushed her down.
At some point the Defendant caused scratches to the Victim’s leg. Officers observed what appeared to be multiple scratch marks with dried blood on the Victim’s leg. The Victim said the Defendant’s new girlfriend witnessed the assault along with a separate male named Jerimiah. The assault ended with Jerimiah telling the Defendant to stop and that he needed to leave. During the incident, the Defendant threatened the victim with the statement “I am going to kill you!” The Defendant also said that he was going to burn all of the Victim’s property and that if she told the police about this assault, she was going to be sorry.
The Victim described the Defendant as being in a rage and she feared for her life throughout the altercation. A check of the Defendant’s criminal history indicates a conviction for Fifth Degree Assault in Court File 09-CR-22- 2025. The Defendant had left the scene and his whereabouts are unknown. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
