On March 31, 2026, officers with the Richfield Police Department were alerted to a stolen vehicle bearing North Dakota 694ENX in the area of 66th Street and Richfield Parkway, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers responded and stopped the vehicle, a red Honda CRV, in front of [ADDRESS REDACTED]. The driver was identified as DIMETRI WARD, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” here. The passenger was identified as J. M. J. The vehicle was driven with a key and had no apparent body damage. Defendant and J. M. J. Were transported the police department.
During transport, Defendant said “Ali let us use that car, we did not steal it.” In a Miranda statement, Defendant claimed that his friend “Ja Ali” had let him borrow the vehicle in Moorhead, MN, for a few hours. Defendant claimed he had borrowed the vehicle around 3:30 P.M. And had driven to the cities. The Honda was confirmed to have been stolen from Bismarck, North Dakota on March 31, 2026. The Victim, [NAME REDACTED], had been at a library and left his keys on the table while he used the bathroom.
When he went to leave his vehicle was gone. Security reviewed footage and saw a black male and black female enter the vehicle and speed off. Based on prior familiarity with them, the officer in Bismarck identified them as Defendant and J. M. J. It was also reported that at approximately 5:30 the Honda was involved in a gas drive off in West Fargo, North Dakota. Defendant is currently in custody.
