Jeffrey Allen Kasel

On 11/22/2025 at approximately 1727 hours, Officers responded to a report of an individual that fired a handgun in their home located at 37** 53rd Place North in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. The reporting party identified the individual as her spouse, Jeffrey Allen Kasel, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Officers arrived and made contact with the reporting party and Defendant. In a post-Miranda interview, Defendant informed Officers that Defendant had been consuming alcohol throughout the day and was struggling with his mental health when he retrieved his handgun from a safe with the intent of shooting himself.

Defendant stated that he fired his gun towards a wall in his home to show his wife that he was serious about harming himself. Officers then applied for and were granted an Emergency Extreme Risk Protection Order in court file 27- EP-CV-25-77. On 01/12/2026, a hearing was held on 27-EP-CV-25-77 in which Defendant admitted to discharging his firearm in his home on 11/22/2025. Pursuant to 27-EP-CV-25-77, Defendant is prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms until 11/22/26. Defendant is not in custody.
