On June 13, 2026, officers responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Plymouth, Hennepin County, Minnesota regarding an initial 911 call in which the reporting party advised that there was a half-naked, crying woman holding a baby in the third-floor hallway. A second call was received from the male half of the domestic situation stating that his girlfriend had struck him with a broom and then left the apartment. A third call was received from the female half in which she stated she had been choked out by her boyfriend, and she was now locked out of the apartment.
Officers arrived and met with Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the lobby of the apartment building. She was using a comforter to cover herself and had borrowed another resident's phone to call 911. Victim [NAME REDACTED] explained that she and Jamaal Deontae Jenkins, [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant") have one child [NAME REDACTED] has another young child, [NAME REDACTED] in the apartment with him. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated Defendant discovered evidence on her phone yesterday that she was texting with other men and he was upset.
There was also an argument over money ongoing. This (late) morning, Defendant had requested to take the kids to the park, but Victim [NAME REDACTED] told him no as they had not completed their morning routine yet. Defendant was trying to grab their in common child [NAME REDACTED] was pushing her around while holding the child. Victim [NAME REDACTED] advised she was going to call her sister and Defendant then grabbed her phone from her and wouldn't return it. Victim [NAME REDACTED] then found her tablet and called her sister.
Defendant grabbed the tablet and told Victim [NAME REDACTED]'s sister that she was not letting him have their child. He then hid the tablet. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated that Defendant kept smacking her, gesturing to her head and face. The incident escalated when Defendant grabbed Victim [NAME REDACTED] from behind in choke hold and brought her to the closet between the bedroom and bathroom. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated that Defendant lifted her up in the chokehold and she subsequently lost consciousness from being unable to breathe.
She regained consciousness briefly and then passed out again. When she woke up again, she left the apartment and went out to the hallway and knocked on a neighboring unit but did not receive an answer. She returned to her apartment door where Defendant was in the doorway. Victim [NAME REDACTED] reached inside the door and grabbed a metal handled broom which was kept by the door and then struck Defendant with the broom. She then returned to inside the apartment where Defendant then grabbed her and threw her back into the closet on her back and strangled her again with two hands to the front of her neck.
She advised that she lost consciousness again. 2 ••-CR-26-••••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 6/16/2026 Victim [NAME REDACTED] then fled the apartment and went to the lobby where she borrowed a phone to call 911. She stated that she was lightheaded and seeing stars prior to losing consciousness and she wasn't able to breathe. She was not able to speak or scream. She advised that her throat was sore. She stated that she thought she was going to die. Defendant denied strangling Victim [NAME REDACTED] but acknowledged there was an altercation.
