On December 8, 2025, at approximately 7:55 P.M., Saint Paul Officers were dispatched to Burger King, 695 7th Street East, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, on a robbery involving a suspect who had a knife. A video from inside the store was reviewed and a photo of the suspect was circulated to officers. The suspect was a heavy-build White male, 50’s, wearing a black beanie, gray sweatshirt, light blue jeans, gray shoes, and eyeglasses. The knife was a kitchen knife, blade approximately 8 inches long. Store employee YV said the suspect approached her and demanded money from the cash register, or he was going to kill someone.
YV pretended she did not understand what the suspect said, stepped away, and called JG to help. After she stepped away, the suspect said to her, “Stay quiet or I’m going to kill you.” Employee JG did not know what was happening. He approached the suspect and asked what he needed help with. The suspect demanded all the money from the register or he was going to kill someone. The suspect grabbed onto his shirt sleeve and pulled him forward. JG saw that the male suspect was holding a knife. JG quickly pulled his arm away.
The suspect left through the east door of the building. JG called police. Sgt. McQuay reviewed City of Saint Paul CCTV cameras around the Burger King area. Using the still shots of the suspect from Burger King video, Sgt. McQuay was able to locate the suspect on video arrive in the area prior to the robbery and fleeing after. The suspect vehicle fled to [ADDRESS REDACTED], #4, Saint Paul. On December 10, 2025, Sgt. McQuay went to the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED] and located the suspect vehicle parked on Maria Avenue.
The vehicle is a gray 2014 Ford F150 pickup truck, license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. The registered owner of the truck is WILLIAM RAYMOND WOOD, [DOB REDACTED], [ADDRESS REDACTED], Saint Paul. WOOD’s driver’s license photo matches the photos of the suspect. It also appears that WOOD is wearing the same eyeglasses in his driver’s license photo as the glasses the suspect wore during the robbery. WOOD’s address at [ADDRESS REDACTED] is the address where suspect was seen in video standing in front prior to the robbery.
WOOD was identified by Sgt. McQuay as the suspect. In video reviewed by Sgt. McQuay, WOOD is seen entering Burger King at 7:49 P.M. He is wearing a black stocking hat, black long sleeve sweatshirt, blue jeans, running shoes, and eyeglasses. WOODS walked through the restaurant and approached the counter area. He looked down. At 7:51 P.M., WOOD allowed another person to go in front of him in line. At 7:53 P.M., WOOD approached the counter. No one else is in line. A few people are in the area waiting for their food.
WOOD pulled both hands back and into his 2 62-CR-26-336 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/15/2026 sweatshirt. At 7:53:55, a female worker walked to the cash register to take WOOD’s order. WOOD leaned over the counter. The worker walked away from him. At 7:54:18, WOOD retrieved a large kitchen knife from his back right pants pocket. WOOD leaned the knife over the counter with his right hand. A male employee walked to the cash register. WOOD grabbed the male employee’s arm and tried to pull him.
