On January 12, 2026, at approximately 1328 hours, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle theft report at 3300 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The reporting party, D. J., stated that he was a United States Postal Service worker, parked his mail truck outside of Sunshine Foods at approximately 1325 hours, went inside for about five minutes, and when he returned his mail truck was taken. Sunshine Foods surveillance cameras captured a male, later identified as GIOVANNI LISANDRO SUAREZ, Defendant herein, exit bus #1720 at 1320 hours.
The Defendant then got into the mail truck and drove away. Bus #1720 surveillance cameras showed the Defendant seated on the bus, exiting the bus, walk to the mail truck, get into it through the passenger side, sit in the driver's seat, and drive away. Saint Paul Police Officers recovered the mail truck with the Defendant driving it a short time later. Dash cameras from the Saint Paul Police squad cars show the Defendant climbing out of the driver's seat and being arrested by Officers. All surveillance was compared to the Defendant's prior booking photos which consistently matched throughout the event.
The State requests this complaint issue as a warrant. The Defendant was sentenced on January 2, 2026, in case file ••-CR-••-••••, to a stay of imposition. The facts admitted to were that the Defendant stole a transit vehicle that was parked outside North Memorial Hospital without permission. On January 12, 2026, the alleged offense, similar to that of ••-CR-••-••••, took place. On January 14, 2026, a probation violation warrant was filed in ••-CR-••-••••.
