On October 28, 2025, Minneapolis police responded to a residence on the 3000 block of Pleasant Avenue South, within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County on report of a domestic assault. Prior to arrival, officers were notified that the reporting party, Victim, indicated her ex-boyfriend keeps calling and threatening her. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who indicated her ex-boyfriend, MAURICE MELANCON [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant”, had been threatening her via telephone for approximately 5 days.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] has a history of assaulting her and has been incarcerated in the past for domestic assault he inflicted on her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] has been calling and threatening her nearly every day since his release from prison. Defendant does not currently have a phone but calls the victim from libraries or other publicly available telephones. In the phone calls, the Defendant threatens to assault and kill the victim in addition to damaging her property. On this day, Defendant called Victim at 10:49 A.M. From the downtown Minneapolis library and threatened to go to her apartment and her place of work to damage property and to kill her.
Victim also showed officers the case number blue cards of reports of other threats she reported to police. Investigators have 3 current open reports within Minneapolis. Defendant has the following prior felony adjudication or convictions and qualified domestic abuse related offenses: Violation of No Contact Order in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on August 26, 2024; Violation of a No Contact Order in Henne pin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on August 26, 2024; 3rd Degree Burglary in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 20, 2023; 4th degree Assault on a Police Officer in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 20, 2023; and 1st Degree Burglary in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 3, 2017. Defendant’s whereabouts are unknown.
Based on the seriousness of this case and the possible penalties attached, a warrant is requested to address bail and conditions necessary to protect the public safety and ensure Defendant's reappearance.
