On July 13, 2017, SAMUEL LEE REEVES [DOB REDACTED] was sentenced on a VOCSL 2 in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-16-2607. On March 26, 2019, Reeves absconded supervision on that case and a DOC warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 16, 2026, officers tracking Reeves saw a woman and Reeves enter a Buick Century bearing Minnesota license plates JPC152. Reeves drove the Buick to the Best Steak House at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County. Officers arrested Reeves inside the restaurant.
Officers towed the Buick and searched it pursuant to a warrant. Officers found a small black bag on the backseat. The bag contained a loaded Smith and Wesson.380 caliber handgun, an envelope with Reeves’ name on it, and Reeves’ birth certificate from Cook County. Officers recovered baggies of suspected crack cocaine inside the center console. The contents of the baggies tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Reeves was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to police. When asked about the gun, Reeves claimed a friend had been shot.
The friend’s belongings fell to the ground, and Reeves was bringing the friend’s items to the friend’s “old lady.” Reeves could only identify his friend as “Eddie.” When asked about he cocaine in the car, Reeves said he likes to put the drug on his marijuana when he smokes. Reeves’ prior VOCSL 2 conviction makes him ineligible to possess firearms or ammunition. Reeves is currently in custody in Hennepin County.
