On March 16, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to the Target located in Woodbury, Washington County, Minnesota, after receiving a theft in-progress complaint. The complainant was Target Loss Prevention employee, M. A. P. She reported that a male had selected a number of Pokemon cards while in the store and was about to walk out with the cards without paying for them. Upon arrival, M. A. P. Advised law enforcement that the male walked past all points of sale with the cards and made no attempt to pay for them.
She stopped the male. He dropped the cards and fled in a Jeep Grand Cherokee bearing Minnesota license plate SNNXXX. Law enforcement located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped. Law enforcement identified the male driver as KYLE ROBERT BAKER, [DOB REDACTED], "the defendant" herein. The defendant matched the description of the suspect provided by M. A. P. The defendant was taken into custody. In a Mirandized statement, the defendant admitted to taking the Pokemon cards from Target without paying for them.
M. A. P. Disclosed that the total value of the merchandise stolen by the defendant was $649.90. The defendant was convicted of Felony Theft on December 23, 2025, as contained in Dakota County District Court File Number 19HA-CR-25-1050.
