Yang yelled out in Hmong, “They’re coming! They’re coming!” The three men stared Yang down as they rode past Yang. The three men dropped off their scooters behind [ADDRESS REDACTED] and began firing towards a “Karen house.” Yang claimed there was “a beef between Karens and Blacks.” When asked why they didn’t call police if the other group shot up a house, Yang said it really wasn’t their problem. When asked what happened after the trio finished shooting at the Karen house, Yang said 15 minutes after the other group shot two of his friends had guns and went looking for the three men in the other group.
Yang heard gunshots, but he wasn’t sure if it was from his friends shooting at the other three men. Yang said the casings recovered from the scene probably came from his friends shooting. Yang denied he had a gun 3 62-CR-26-1824 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/19/2026 during the incident, but he knew his friends were armed, and he knew his friends were going to shoot the three men. Yang said his friends were going to shoot the other men whether he acted as lookout or not. They then drove in a vehicle to a spot near Cayuga Park.
The two men who had gone off rejoined the rest of Yang’s group at the park. Yang and the group were instructed not to be afraid and to not tell anyone. Slim told Yang that Slim had shot on of the others in the torso. The group dropped off the two handguns at the OMB leader’s home. They then rented more scooters. Yang thought the guns involved in the incident had been sold off. Yang reported back to the rest of the group after investigators first made contact with them. The group deleted their social media accounts.
Yang feared being violated by his gang for providing information to police. Police responded to only one report of gunshots in the area on the night of June 23, 2025.
