On or about December 20, 2024, Golden Valley Police officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a known residence in Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers met with C. K., an adult female, Victim herein, who stated she was sexually assaulted the week before by BRYAN DANIEL SWEN [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was her cousin and that she went to his home that evening to hang out and spend the night. She went to sleep in the same bed as Defendant and was awakened by Defendant in the early morning hours.
She stated Defendant’s alarm went off and Victim nudged him to wake up. Defendant then hit her and suddenly pulled her toward him. He began touching her breasts. Defendant got on top of her, held her down, and penetrated her vaginally with his penis without her consent. She stated Defendant did not look like himself. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in fear of Defendant and did not consent. Defendant stopped when he received a phone call. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in shock afterward. She stated Defendant acted like nothing had happened.
He offered her money to drive him to work. She went home and took a shower, and later that afternoon she went to the hospital where she received a sexual assault exam. The sexual assault kit was submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for testing. The BCA completed forensic testing and determined Defendant’s profile matched the DNA profile from Victim's genital swabs. Defendant denied having sex with Victim and denied any previous sexual relationship with Victim. Defendant claimed he had consumed mushrooms earlier in the night, which caused him to be in a "trance." Defendant is not in custody.
