On Saturday July 5, 2025, Minnesota State Patrol Troopers were in the area of westbound 94 and Broadway Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, when their attention was drawn to a vehicle, "Subject Vehicle" herein, driving in that area. When behind Subject Vehicle, a Trooper observed the vehicle drifting and weaving/failing to maintain their driving lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and Jeronimo Martinez Delgado [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, was identified as the driver. In approaching the vehicle, the Trooper observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle.
The officer asked Defendant to perform field sobriety tests, which he was unable to satisfactorily perform. Defendant was asked to provide a preliminary breath test, and Defendant did not provide a proper sample. On a manual capture, a reading on a weak sample resulted as 0.126 alcohol concentration of BAC. When face-to-face with Defendant, the Trooper could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Defendant when Defendant exhaled. Defendant was placed under arrest for DWI. After Defendant was read the implied consent advisory, and given the opportunity to consult with an attorney, Defendant agreed to provide a breath sample.
Defendant failed to provide a sample after repeated opportunities. In booking Defendant at the Hennepin County Jail, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Defendant was found to have a dollar bill containing a white crystal powder in his wallet. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 0.38 gram without packaging.
