On September 17, 2025, around 7:50 P.M., Bloomington Police Department officers were dispatched to a vehicle accident at Old Cedar Avenue and American Boulevard East in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. On arrival, officers observed a vehicle (MN ZEV779) off the road and in the brush southwest of the intersection. A second vehicle (MN ZEW749) was up a nearby hill, near the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED] East. As officers approached the scene, they saw two females arguing. The females then began to physically fight with one another and ended up on the ground.
Officers detained both females, one of whom was identified as Ayane Ahmed Omar [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The other was identified as Z. Y., victim herein. During their investigation, officers identified Defendant as the driver of the vehicle found in the brush (MN ZEV779) and Victim as the driver of the vehicle up the hill (MN ZEW749). Officers interviewed the Victim. She informed officers her and Defendant were previously friends and met up with Defendant to give Defendant back some of her belongings.
Defendant pulled up to Victim's vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was trying to box her car in and felt uncomfortable. Victim then dropped the bag containing Defendant's items and began to drive her vehicle away. Defendant then began to follow her in Defendant's vehicle and sped up towards the Victim's vehicle. The Victim then indicated Defendant crashed her vehicle into the back of Victim's vehicle. The Victim's vehicle was reported as a total loss. The cost to repair or replace the vehicle is believed to be greater than $1,000. A passenger of Victim's vehicle, K. N. K, recorded part of the crash on a cell phone.
Defendant's car is seen driving rapidly towards Victim's car. Victim appears to turn her car and Defendant's car strikes the rear of the Victim's car hard enough for the phone to dislodge from the passenger's grip and fall to the ground. The vehicle was also struck hard enough for airbags to deploy. In a statement to officers, Defendant indicated she tried to get her property back from Victim, [NAME REDACTED] was antagonizing her, and believed a passenger in Victim's car had thrown something at her car.
She said she followed the Victim to try and figure out why Victim [NAME REDACTED] in her car would do that. As she got close to the Victim, Defendant indicated she tried to hit the brake, but accidentally pressed the gas and hit Victim's vehicle. Multiple people in the Victim's vehicle, including the Victim, ended up going to the hospital for injuries related to the crash and paramedics were called to the scene of the crash.
