On January 24, 2026, at 1443 hours, Maplewood police officers responded to the 1200 block of Antelope Way, Maplewood, Ramsey County, on a report of a domestic. AJR, [DOB REDACTED], reported that her live-in adult son, Aaron James Ristrom, [DOB REDACTED], was at the residence with his girlfriend. They were trying to start the girlfriend’s car without success. Ristrom became agitated and was smoking methamphetamine. AJR, told her son that she was going to call 911. Ristrom became very upset and told AJR that he was going to “take my knife and jab it into your neck.” Ristrom had a 6-inch knife in a sheath on his hip.
AJR became frightened. Ristrom’s father then gave Ristrom the keys to the father’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu and Ristrom left the house. Officers responded back to the address at 1854 when Ristrom reportedly had returned. AJR said that he left again before police arrived. Officers located Ristrom in the vehicle in the area and they arrested him. Officers recovered a substance in the vehicle that presumptively tested positive for methamphetamine with a net weight of 1.64 grams. Officers attempted a post-Miranda interview with Ristrom, but he appeared to be impaired and fell asleep during questioning.
He did state that he had used fentanyl. He denied using methamphetamine. Officers obtained a sample of Ristrom’s urine via search warrant. Analysis is pending. Ristrom has a prior conviction for felony Domestic Assault on 12/14/2023.
