On or about December 1, 2025, Officers from the Anoka Police Department responded to an apartment in the city of Anoka, Anoka County, Minnesota, on the report of domestic abuse. The caller reported her boyfriend, later identified as JOSEPH JOHN SCHULTZ [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereinafter, had hit her. Officers arrived and made contact with the caller, A. D. W., in the lobby of the apartment complex. A. D. W. Stated her boyfriend, Defendant herein, got into an argument when Defendant insisted that she go to Mexico with him.
When A. D. W. Declined, Defendant hit her in her left ear. Officers observed that A. D. W.’s left ear had some redness. A. D. W. Stated she was afraid of the Defendant. A. D. W. Stated this was not the first time she had been hit by Defendant and that Defendant hit her on the top of her head yesterday and hit her head the day before that as well. Officers made contact with the Defendant, who stated he and A. D. W. Had gotten into a verbal argument. Defendant was placed under arrest. Defendant has four (4) prior qualified domestic violence-related convictions within the last ten years: 1. On September 19, 2023, Defendant was convicted of 3rd degree assault.
