On 3/20/2026 at approximately 15:29 hours, MPD officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MN on a report of a domestic assault in progress. Remarks in the call indicated that this was a domestic strangulation and that the caller was unable to separate herself from the alleged suspect. Upon arrival, officers observed a male, later identified as Bernard Emmanuel Walker, Jr., [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant"), and a female, Victim ST, both walking out the front of the residence towards officers.
Defendant was advised that he was being detained and was placed into handcuffs without incident. Officers observed Victim ST showed physical signs of injuries to her neck. Victim ST stated that the Defendant is her boyfriend, and she has known him since 2024. Victim ST stated that Defendant moved to MN in November to be with her and that they just moved in together recently. Victim [NAME REDACTED] is very controlling of her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the past, she has been assaulted by Defendant but that she has never called the police.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was an argument, which quickly escalated to being physical. Victim [NAME REDACTED] one point, Defendant put his hand around her neck and pushed her against the living room wall. She stated she tried to fight off Defendant but that he punched her in the back of the head and pulled her hair. Victim ST stated that she felt pressure around her neck during the assault but did not lose consciousness. Officers observed nail marks/signs of injury on the front of Victim ST's neck. Victim ST stated she does not feel safe having Defendant at her home.
HCMC Paramedics arrived and evaluated Victim ST. She advised paramedics of having some pain in her neck and jaw. Defendant was told he was being placed under arrest for domestic assault and spontaneously asked "did they look at her neck? I didn't strangle anybody," and "if I was strangling somebody, they would have bruises on their neck." Defendant further explained "I held her." Defendant is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail. A DANCO is requested.
