Members of the Brookly Park Police Department investigated a carjacking that happened in July 2025. Lazerrick Alante Stewart, [DOB REDACTED], was a suspect in the carjacking. Investigators obtained communications from Stewart's phone that were consistent with attempts to sell and trade handguns and narcotics. An examination of his phone also produced pictures and videos of Stewart holding handguns. Investigators located a new Facebook account for Stewart. Location information from logins to that Facebook account pointed to the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County.
Investigators conducted surveillance on November 3, 2025, at the address and observed Stewart walking in and out of the residence. Officers obtained a search warrant for [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul. Brooklyn Park detectives and members of the St. Paul SWAT executed the search warrant on November 6, 2025. They located a Highpoint.45 Cal ACP firearm, SN X416316, underneath some loose clothing in the downstairs bedroom. Stewart was present and arrested. The gun was a stolen gun out of Indiana. Stewart declined a custodial interview but did ask if he could be booked in the Hennepin County Jail (instead of Ramsey County) if he were to admit ownership of the gun.
DNA analysis performed by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Laboratory found that samples from the grip and slide of the gun contained a mixture of DNA. The BCA noted that statistical calculation supports the inclusion of Stewart’s DNA profile in the mixture. Stewart is ineligible to possess firearms due to an adjudication, with Extended Juvenile Court Jurisdiction, for Assault in the First Degree in 2023 in 27JV22946.
