On December 22, 2025, Minnetonka police responded to Target Ridgedale ([ADDRESS REDACTED]), Minnetonka, Hennepin County, for a hit on their Automated License Plate Ready involving a KOPS alert on a 2008 black Mercedes SUV with MN license GL550. The vehicle was wanted out of Minneapolis for fleeing police. Officers made contact with the vehicle and told the driver to put his hands in the air. The driver refused and instead accelerated his car into the police squad – nearly hitting the officer standing outside the driver’s side door.
The driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers drove near Greenbrier Road and saw the suspect vehicle with a male walking in the parking lot on foot. As the squad car entered the parking lot the male sprinted back to the suspect vehicle. Officers tried to block the suspect vehicle in with their squad. However, the suspect once again accelerated several times into the squad car before breaking free and fleeing at a high rate of speed. State patrol helicopter was overhead and tracked the vehicle.
A stop stick was utilized and punctured a tire, so the male fled on foot. The suspect was ultimately apprehended and arrested nearby. The suspect was identified as Vaemon Dominique Batiste, born on [DOB REDACTED], herein DEFENDANT. DEFENDANT is currently in custody.
