On November 1, 2025, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a report regarding property damage that occurred at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The reporting party T. M., stated that on July 31, 2025, a building he owns and rents to tenants was damaged by JOHN DOMINIC BARTON, Defendant herein. The Defendant is T. M.'s former brother-in-law. T. M. Was married to the Defendant's sister for approximately 17 years and is familiar with the Defendant. T. M. Was able to obtain video footage that showed the Defendant pulling down a supporting beam of the portico of [ADDRESS REDACTED] South causing the awning to fall and block the door to the building.
T. M. Recognized the Defendant in the video from his voice, laugh, gait, and appearance. T. M. Spoke to one of his tenants, F. V., who stated that they spoke to the Defendant prior to the incident. The Defendant lived at one of T. M.'s other properties for approximately one year in 2023 nearby at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South but he had since moved into a group home. T. M. Stated that there is no apparent animosity between the parties or incident that sparked the damage. The cost of the damage is $1,782.00. The Defendant currently has active warrants and therefore the State requests this complaint issue as a warrant.
