On or about July 28, 2025, Rogers police took a report of a stolen truck from the parking lot at Walgreens located at 21495 141st Ave North in Rogers, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The victim [NAME REDACTED] in the parking lot for a brief period of time and returned and the truck was stolen. Police checked to see if Walgreens had surveillance and they did. The surveillance captured the theft. The camera shows an older, white suspect male wearing a gray tank top exiting the store. The suspect male walks past the victim’s truck, turns around and appears to begin to investigate the truck.
The suspect male is observed entering the truck through the driver’s side and drives the truck off the lot. Officers talked to store staff who described the suspect male to be a male who entered the Walgreens asking to use someone’s cellphone. The vehicle was recovered on July 29, 2025, by Minneapolis police. The vehicle was towed, discovered to have an ignition interlock system in it. The ignition interlock system in the vehicle does record images of the individuals who blow into the machine. A DNA swab was also taken from the mouthpiece of the machine.
A search warrant was obtained to get the images of the machine. Those images were then sent out as a BCA crime alert. Multiple responses were received from fellow law enforcement officers who identified the theft suspect as VICTOR DANIEL BERRIOS [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Law enforcement learned Defendant was in custody at the Hennepin County Jail for unrelated offenses and interviewed him there. During a post-Miranda statement, law enforcement showed Defendant a photo of himself in the vehicle and he confirmed it was him and confirmed to stealing it.
Defendant is currently not in custody at this time. Defendant did not have permission to take or drive the vehicle.
