The female [fully identified in reports] [hereinafter victim] met with Sergeant Turner to report a sexual assault that occurred at a residence in Zimmerman, Sherburne County, MN. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on August 9, 2025 she met with an individual identified as MATTHEW SCOTT SCHULTZ, [DOB REDACTED] [hereinafter defendant]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been “seeing the defendant romantically” for a few months and had met up with him approximately six times before. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the second time they met up the two engaged in sexual intercourse, however after the incident she told the defendant she did not want to engage in sexual intercourse moving forward.
Victim stated that the defendant acknowledged her wishes and that there were “no issues” going forward. Victim stated that after that her and the defendant continued to hang out and attended events together and the two planned to attend an event in St. Cloud on August 9, 2025. Victim reported that after the event, at approximately 5:00 P.M. Her and the defendant went back to the defendant’s residence. Victim reported that her and the defendant began kissing each other on the defendant’s bed and the defendant removed her pants.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was consensual but after the defendant removed her pants, she told him “No” and swung her legs over so that she was in a seated position with her feet on the ground. Victim stated that the defendant then grabbed her arms and pulled her to the middle of the bed before inserting his penis into her vagina. Victim [NAME REDACTED] told the defendant no and stop but that he did not. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in pain, however the defendant continued to insert his penis and his fingers into her vagina.
Further, victim [NAME REDACTED] during the encounter she attempted to get back into a seat position however her legs were blocked by the defendant’s arms, which would not move. Victim [NAME REDACTED] incident lasted approximately 15-20 minutes, in which the defendant stopped and requested the victim [NAME REDACTED] on him, to which victim declined. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at that time she was able to get to the bathroom, began crying, and called a friend for help. Further victim [NAME REDACTED] incident she was afraid of how the defendant would act if she left because she didn’t know if he would get violent.
Victim reported later leaving the defendant’s residence and traveling to her friend’s home. On August 10, 2025 victim sent defendant a message informing him that she no longer wanted to have any contact with him due to his actions the night prior. Sergeant Turner observed the message and noted that the victim said to the defendant “when a woman says no there should be no hesitation to stop in that exact moment.” Sergeant Turner also observed a reply from the defendant apologizing for his actions and “animalistic” behavior.
