On January 1, 2026, at approximately 9:25 P.M., Woodbury Police Officer Milbauer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being driven by Tommie Maurice Mays (defendant), [DOB REDACTED] on Century Avenue S, Maplewood, Woodbury, Washington County, Minnesota. After the officer approached the vehicle, he made contact with the defendant. During their discussion, the officer became concerned that the defendant may have a firearm. When asked if he did have a firearm, defendant denied it and then said "I gotta go" and fled from the scene in the vehicle.
On March 19, 2026, defendant was arrested on a separate matter that involved controlled substances and firearms in Ramsey County. Detective Steve Hane then went to the Ramsey County jail and read the defendant his Miranda warning. Defendant agreed to speak with Detective Hane and admitted to fleeing from the officer on January 1, 2026. The State is requesting a Minnesota warrant to secure defendant's appearance. The defendant has other out of State actions that may impact his ability to appear for this matter.
