When officers arrived they met with the victim of the assault, HPP, fully identified in reports. They observed HPP to have a torn t‐shirt that was stretched out around the collar, a scratch on his chest and a drop of blood on the shirt collar. HPP was also observed to have bleeding scrapes on his knees and knuckles and his glasses were bent on the left side. HPP said that he was in a sexual relationship with JASMIN EVE RICHARDS ([DOB redacted]), defendant herein. They had issues that had arisen in the last month or so, which involved the defendant spreading rumors about HPP. On this date they had met in the parking lot of the apartment complex and were discussing the issue while seated in the defendant's car.
The conversation became heated and the defendant began to exit the vehicle, when the defendant struck him on the left side of his face causing his glasses to bend. The defendant followed HPP out of the vehicle and grabbed him by his shirt and struck him on the face several times. The defendant stated he swept the defendant's leg which cause them both to fall to the ground. The defendant continued to hold HPP's shirt as he was attempting to get away from her. HPP told the defendant that there are security cameras at the apartment building that would be recording her actions in an effort to get her to let him go.
He was able to get free and began to walk away and the defendant returned to her vehicle. HPP yelled at the defendant that "you'll have to deal with that", meaning he was going to call the police. The defendant then exited her vehicle and put her hood from her sweatshirt over her head and started to advance toward HPP with her hand in her purse. As the defendant got closer to HPP she removed her hand from her purse and HPP saw the defendant was holding a small knife with a black handle and an approximately 2" blade.
HPP felt a sharp point in his abdomen area and ge grabbed the defendant's wrists to keep her hands away from him. The defendant continued to advance on HPP trying to stab him as he continued telling her to stop. This continued for approximately 1‐2 minutes until the defendant began to walk away from HPP back to her car. HPP retreated inside the apartment complex and called 911. Officers attempted to locate the defendant at her apartment but there was no response when they knocked and announced at her residence.
They were able to locate the defendant the following day and placed her under arrest. A search warrant was obtained for the defendant's residence. The search resulted in the discovery of a black short bladed knife on the bed in the defendant's bedroom. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
