On November 19, 2025, at approximately 10:05 A.M., West Hennepin Public Safety were notified of a traffic complaint on Highway 12 and Hitsman Lane in Independence, Hennepin County. The caller reported a white Ford truck was swerving in and out of the ditch, had struck a traffic sign, had exited their vehicle and then got back in and continued driving. Officers responded and located the white truck with the caller following behind. The trucked was a white Chevrolet Silverado (JAA094) and was weaving side to side, had crossed the right-hand white fog line, and was slowing down.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, and police observed the windshield was cracked and a piece of the vehicle fell off the front and was run over by the truck's tires. Police observed the driver moving around in the vehicle and instructed him to stop. The driver also began telling police that he was trying to get his truck home after hitting a sign. The driver was identified as JARETT JON HARMON [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Police spoke with Defendant and observed his movements to be jerky and rigid and his pupils were dilated.
Police conducted standardized field sobriety testing on Defendant and observed multiple clues of impairment. Defendant provided a preliminary breathalyzer sample of 0.00. Police placed Defendant under arrest for suspected driving while impaired. Police searched Defendant's vehicle incident to arrest and located a black sunglass zip-up case in the backpack Defendant had been moving around when police approached. Inside the case was a clear glass pipe with a white powdery residue and small baggie of a white crystal- like substance.
Defendant was transported to the department and police obtained a search warrant. Defendant provided a blood sample. Police later processed the collected crystal-like substance which field tested positive for.70 grams of methamphetamine. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension later issued a report showing Defendant had Methamphetamine and Amphetamine in his system at the time of the incident. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
