On or about March 27, 2026, Minneapolis police responded to a domestic abuse report that had occurred on February 19, 2026, at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Police made contact with a female, "Victim" herein. Victim reported that her ex-romantic partner Anthony Jefferson [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, was supposed to be at rehab on February 19, 2026, but she found him passed out on the living room floor of her apartment. She was worried because he is on probation and could see him with two pistols sticking out of his pocket.
She said she removed the firearms from his pocket and woke him up. She told him to grab his guns and leave. She then walked to her bedroom and Defendant followed her. An argument started and Defendant lunged at her and grabbed her throat. She told police it was hard to breathe while he strangled her. Her friend, "Witness 1" herein, then ran into the room and jumped on Defendant’s back until he gave up. Defendant then fled the residence. Witness 1 provided a statement to an investigator. She confirmed that she saw Defendant on top of Victim and pulled him off of her.
Defendant has the following convictions: - Felony Threats of violence (86CR126914), convicted 1/2/13; - Felony 5th Degree Drugs (02CR183612), convicted 1/31/2019; - Felony Strangulation (02CR183020), convicted 1/31/2019; and - Felony DWI (27CR1815358), convicted 8/26/2019. Defendant is currently on conditional release for Felony Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm (27- CR-25-22321). Defendant is currently in the Hennepin County Jail. Defendant poses a threat to public safety. The State respectfully requests a warrant issued with this complaint.
