JEK, [DOB REDACTED], stated that her boyfriend, Vincent Fields, Jr., [DOB REDACTED], was in possession of a firearm. During an argument, he struck her two times and threatened to kill her. He also grabbed her by the throat and said, “I’m not playing.” She said that he took her phone away when she tried to call 911. She then called with her iPad and he also took that away.
She later clarified that he did not hit her with the gun or point it at her, but he did have it in possession when he threatened her, which frightened her. He said when JEK called 911, he left.
When he saw deputies arriving, he returned to the scene. He also denied threatening JEK, and he denied having gun. He told deputies that JEK keeps a firearm in the closet. JEK gave deputies permission to search her residence and they found a Smith and Wesson.40 caliber handgun in the closet of the master bedroom along with a live round next to it. They also found a fully loaded 9mm handgun magazine behind a couch cushion in the living room. JEK denied ownership of the gun and stated that she would provide a DNA sample.
Fields declined to consent to a DNA sample. JEK called deputies back to the house later in the day to report that she found another handgun in the residence. Deputies recovered a Glock 48, 9mm, with a fully loaded magazine and a round in the chamber.
