On or about January 12, 2026, at approximately 9:21 P.M., Itasca County Sheriff’s Deputy Hasbargen was dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] 119 in Deer River, Itasca County, Minnesota for a disturbance. The reporting party, identified as F. M. H., hereinafter Victim [NAME REDACTED], advised that her grandson, whom she identified as CODY ALLEN GOGGLEYE, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the Defendant, had pointed a BB gun at her and C. H. H., hereinafter Victim [NAME REDACTED] Deputy Hasbargen arrived on scene and Deer River Police Officer Krall advised that the Defendant was in the bathroom.
When the Defendant came out, Deputy Hasbargen advised him to show law enforcement his hands, which he did. The Defendant was not holding a weapon. Officer Krall asked the Defendant what he was doing and if he pointed a BB gun at anyone. The Defendant, who did not make much sense and was speaking in gibberish, but then stated he was just teasing his brother, did it to smarten his brother up, and said he did it to “teach him the way of the Holiest.” Deputy Hasbargen spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED] who stated that when she returned home that day, the Defendant was acting strange and had pulled her wood stove furnace pipe out of the stove.
She stated that she and Victim [NAME REDACTED] sat in the living room, which is when the Defendant went in the bedroom and came out with a BB gun, laid in the hallway, and pointed the gun at her and Victim [NAME REDACTED] Victim [NAME REDACTED] indicated that she began to get scared of the Defendant a few days prior. While speaking with Deputy Hasbargen, Victim [NAME REDACTED] became emotional and was attempting not to cry. She indicated that she does not want the Defendant to hurt anybody, but thinks that he could.
Deputy Dillinger spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED] who stated that he lived at the house with Victim [NAME REDACTED], who is his grandmother. Victim [NAME REDACTED] indicated that the Defendant was his cousin, had recently been released from prison/jail, and had been living at Victim [NAME REDACTED]’s house for about a month. Victim [NAME REDACTED] indicated that the Defendant had been acting strangely, specifically that he had bene preaching religious verses and talking about random things continuously.
He also stated that the Defendant regularly drinks alcohol but was unsure about how much. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated that the Defendant was laying on the floor in the hallway by his bedroom, that he had a BB/pellet gun in his hands, and was pointing it at Victim [NAME REDACTED] and Victim [NAME REDACTED] The Defendant kept saying that he was going to shoot them, then he would laugh. After Victim [NAME REDACTED] told the Defendant to stop doing what he was doing and put the BB gun away, the Defendant put the BB gun away.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] also stated that earlier that day, as he was getting ready for work, the Defendant approached him with a knife. The Defendant kept making stabbing motions towards Victim [NAME REDACTED]’s stomach and would tell Victim [NAME REDACTED] that he would stab him. Victim [NAME REDACTED] stated that the Defendant touched Victim [NAME REDACTED]’s stomach with the knife a few times, but there were no marks or injuries.
