On December 8, 2025, around 12:05 P.M., law enforcement was dispatched to a gas station located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County, on a report of a vehicle theft in progress. The reporting party indicated a male suspect was in the driver's seat of his silver 2008 Ford Edge (MN/FRL059). Upon arrival, officers located two males sitting in a vehicle next to the Ford Edge. Both were detained. One was identified as Jeffrey Steven Moe [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. The driver of the Ford Edge and reporting party, C. H., the brother of the registered owner V. H., identified the defendant as the male that was in possession of the vehicle.
Officers located a key in the ignition of the Ford Edge, but C. H. Said there was only one key to the vehicle, and he had it in his possession. From officer’s experience, the key in the vehicle appeared to be modified and not the original key for the vehicle. Officers also located the vehicle manual on the passenger seat as well as a screwdriver on the passenger- side floorboard. C. H. Told law enforcement that he had left the vehicle the day prior because it had broken down. When he returned on December 8, 2025, to try and fix it, C. H. Said that defendant was in the driver’s seat and was claiming the vehicle was his.
C. H. Said he never gave defendant permission to enter, take, or drive his vehicle. V. H., the registered owner, confirmed that her brother, C. H., had permission to drive her vehicle but no one else did. In a post-Miranda statement, defendant admitted to being in the driver’s seat of C. H. And V. H.’s vehicle.
