On 04/08/2026 at 2038 hours, Maplewood Police were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Maplewood, Ramsey County for a report of criminal damage to property. The complainant’s son reportedly broke a storm door window and refused to leave. While police were en route three more parties called 911 to report hearing someone yelling near the address. Upon arrival, police heard banging and yelling and saw a male, later identified as Jacob Steven HAUWILLER-GUSTAFSON [DOB REDACTED], kicking a garage door at the address.
HAUWILLER- GUSTAFSON was detained and declined to be interviewed. The complainant, RH, said she was HAUWILLER-GUSTAFSON’s mother. Also present was HAUWILLER- GUSTAFSON’s sister, GJ, and her boyfriend; MR. RH said HAUWILLER-GUSTAFSON has multiple mental health diagnoses. He does not live with her and he knows he is not welcome at the house. RH said that on 4/4/26, he came to the house uninvited. He got agitated, she called 911, and HAUWILLER- GUSTAFSON ending up getting admitted to Regions Hospital on a mental health hold.
HAUWILLER-GUSTAFSON returned to the house on 04/08/2026, was banging on the front door, and getting more and more agitated. RH then heard the glass storm door break so she called 911. HAUWILLER-GUSTAFSON then went to the garage and began kicking it. Both GJ and MR gave police similar accounts of the events. Police saw that the lower half of the storm door's glass had been smashed out and the garage door had multiple dents and scuff marks. RH said the garage door had several large dents with shoe prints.
She estimated the cost to replace the garage door at $2,000-$3,000 and the cost to repair the storm door at $1,000. For purposes of Rule 6.
