On November 20, 2025, Blaine Police Department officers responded to a report of shoplifting at Walmart located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, in the city of Blaine, County of Anoka, State of Minnesota. The suspect, later identified as Justin Samuel Schaden [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was observed by Walmart employees selecting a package of sports cards and concealing it in his jacket pocket before passing all points of sale without paying. Defendant then exited the store and left in a vehicle with Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. Officers stopped the vehicle on I-35W and Sunset Ave NE after observing the car fail to properly use its turn signal.
During the stop, Defendant initially refused to provide his driver's license, claiming he was "traveling," but eventually produced his Minnesota ID. A search of the vehicle revealed the stolen sports cards at Defendant's feet, and it was confirmed that his driver's license was canceled-inimical to public safety (DAC-IPS) The stolen merchandise, valued at $39.87, was returned to Walmart.
