On December 7, 2025, at approximately 2:25 A.M., Brooklyn Center Police were on patrol when they observed a vehicle parked in the front entrance way of the Super 8 hotel, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] North in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. Police ran the vehicle's license plate which came back as stolen. Police entered the hotel looking for a male suspect that was associated with the theft of the vehicle. While asking staff about the individual, an individual S. H. Approached police and stated he knew the individual that was in the picture and that the individual was not at this location.
S. H. Then told police he drove the vehicle to the hotel after dropping the male suspect off, and that another friend was with him, identified as THOMAS WILLIAM RAE STEVENS [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Police later located Defendant walking on foot behind the Super 8. Defendant had an active warrant and was placed under arrest. Defendant was also in possession of the keys to the stolen vehicle. During a search of the stolen vehicle, police located a black backpack with a green liner. In a post Miranda interview, Defendant admitted the backpack located in the vehicle was his backpack.
Defendant then told police that many other people at various times could have had access to the backpack and there could have been drugs put into the backpack by other people. After the unprompted statement, police told Defendant there were drugs located in the backpack. The items located in the backpack were later processed and field-tested positive for 2.45 grams of methamphetamine and 6.59 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. At present, Defendant is not in custody. The State is requesting this complaint issue as a warrant as Defendant has an active $100,000 warrant in Case No. ••-CR-••-••••.
