On January 15, 2026, Macy’s Staff KG reported that a male entered Macy’s, Rosedale Mall, 1595 Highway 36 West, Roseville, on January 13, 2026 at approximately 7:18 P.M. The male selected five fragrances (total value $705) from the sale’s floor, and carried the merchandise out of the store without paying for the items. KG gave Detective Cook reports and surveillance video of the incident. Detective Cook captured a clear photograph of the suspect’s face from surveillance video. Detective Cook uploaded the image of suspect to a public face search arrest database that compares booking photographs to submitted photographs.
The search returned twenty-five different booking photographs, including a possible match to OMAR AHMED HUSSEEN, [DOB REDACTED]. Detective Cook found multipole booking photos of HUSSEEN on the Minnesota Repository of Arrest Photographs. Included in the arrest photos was a January 15, 2026th arrest record for HUSSEEN at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center. Detective Cook compared this photo to the surveillance video suspect photo, and identified HUSSEEN as the suspect in the Macy’s theft. HUSSEEN had identifiable characteristics to include a mustache with no hair visible under septum of nose; unique facial patter under his jaw line that did not extend to cheek near the corner of his mouth or between his chin and lower lip; same color and shape of eyes.
Detective Cook reviewed the surveillance video from Macy’s theft and noted the suspect was wearing a unique pair of shoes with identifiable pattern-white in color with red coloring near the sole and black markings on the side and rear of the shoe. Suspect also wore a black jacket and a balaclava style head wrap around his hair/neck. Detective Cook reviewed video of HUSSEEN’s arrest by Metro Transit Officers Hennepin County on January 15, 2026. HUSSEEN wore the same shoes, black jacket, and balaclava style face wrap under his hooded sweatshirt.
Detective Cook identified HUSSEEN as the suspect in Macy’s theft.
