On July 4, 2025, at approximately 6:30 P.M., Officer Wooden was dispatched to Macy’s located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in the city of Minnetonka, county of Hennepin, Minnesota on a report of a theft. Inside the loss prevention office, Officer Wooden met with Macy’s loss prevention and the suspect identified as Van Luu Le, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. Macy’s loss prevention employee C. E. Reported that he observed the defendant inside the store carrying two empty shopping bags. Loss prevention employees observed the defendant select merchandise and observed some of the selected merchandise inside the bags she carried as she walked throughout the store.
The defendant then exited the store, passing all points of sale and failing to pay for or forfeit the merchandise inside the bag she carried. Loss prevention officers recovered unpaid Macy’s merchandise from inside the bags the defendant carried. Defendant claimed confusion where the the registers were located however Officer Wooden reviewed video showing her walk by registers prior to going to the exit doors for the store with the bag concealing the unpaid for merchandise. Officer Wooden determined no one from the store had given defendant permission to leave the store without paying for the items.
Defendant exited the store out the doors to the north lot, getting stopped by loss prevention in between the sets of double doors to the outdoors. The total value of the merchandise taken by the defendant was $907.50.
