On April 8, 2026, Minnetonka Police responded to a theft report at Dick's House of Sport, located at [address omitted] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County. Loss Prevention (LP) reported that on March 31, 2026, at about 7pm, an unknown male, later identified as WILLIAM DHIRMAL BRAZELTON ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein, made rapid selections in the men's Nike apparel section and then exited the store, bypassing all points of sale without attempting to pay for or forfeit any items. On that day, he had taken three pairs of joggers and three hoodies, for a total value of $720. On April 8, 2026, LP reported that Defendant was back, wearing the same hat and sweatshirt as he was during the theft on March 31. Defendant selected a blue and white Nike jacket, and other items that could not be identified via surveillance video due to the camera angle.
However, Defendant set off the security towers when he left the store that day, again passing all points of sale without attempting to pay for or forfeit any items. Defendant was apprehended at a nearby bus stop, and officers noticed there was a bulge on his chest. Upon lifting up the outer layer of Defendant's clothing, the blue and white Nike jacket was discovered, with a security sensor that was covered in tinfoil, which is often used to defeat security systems in retail thefts. Defendant was wearing multiple layers of clothes and was found to be wearing several clothing items with Dick's tags still on them.
The total value of stolen merchandise between the two dates was determined to be $1,263. Defendant is currently in custody in Ramsey County on other matters, so the State respectfully requests this Complaint be issued as a warrant.
