On April 9, 2026, around 2am, Hennepin County Sheriff's Officers were in the area of the 900 block of East Lake Street in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, when they observed what they believed to be a seatbelt alarm light flashing in a vehicle stopped at a traffic light, indicating the driver was not wearing their seatbelt. Law enforcement pulled up behind the vehicle and smelled the odor of marijuana, which was not present until they were behind the vehicle. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle, and confirmed the driver, identified as ASHLEY NEAMIAH SCAIFE [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was not wearing his seatbelt.
Defendant also stated he did not have a driver's license and admitted to actively smoking a joint, showing it to law enforcement. Defendant was found to have a Cancelled-Inimical to Public Safety driver's license status in Minnesota. He was taken into custody on this offense, and, when searched at the jail, had 12 bindles of suspected cocaine on his person. Each bindle had the same color, texture, and unique smell. Based on training and experience, law enforcement identified this to likely all be cocaine.
It field-tested positive for cocaine and altogether weighed 27.82 grams. Based on the powder being packaged in 12 separate baggies, it is believed that Defendant possessed with intent to sell the bindles. Defendant is currently in custody at Hennepin County Jail.
