On December 15, 2025, at 1614 hours, St. Paul police officers observed Travis Adam McGee, [DOB REDACTED], and Emerald Kay Contreras, [DOB REDACTED], arguing at the corner of Snelling and Charles in St. Paul, Ramsey County. McGee threw an object at Contreras, striking her in the head. Officers knew that McGee had a pickup and hold for aiding an offender in a shooting incident. Officers also knew that McGee had recently been arrested in Roseville for possession of a firearm. Officers also observed that McGee was wearing sagging pants, and that Contreras was holding a large bag on her shoulder.
Officers were concerned that if McGee possessed a gun, he may have had Contreras holding it for him. Squads approached and arrested McGee. They attempted to pat search Contreras for a potential weapon, but she tensed up and was pulling away. Officers felt a firm object near her waistline. Officer expanded the pat search to determine if the object was a weapon. The object was revealed to be a compressed cube of suspected controlled substance. Officer arrested Contreras and searched her bag. They recovered an additional plastic bag of suspected controlled substance.
They also recovered a purple vial of suspected controlled substance in her pocket. In a post-Miranda interview, Contreras admitted that she knew she was in possession of cocaine. She stated that McGee had given the drugs to her to hold. Contreras had warrants for her arrest for theft (x3) and DWI. The suspected controlled substances tested positive for cocaine with a total net weight of 192.74 grams.
