On January 26, 2024, officers with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE on the report of two vehicles that had broken into. One of the victim was identified as D. B., and she later reported that a book of checks had been stolen during the incident. On July 14, 2024, officers with the Ramsey Police Department responded to Trailhead Park at [ADDRESS REDACTED], NW, for the report of theft from a vehicle. The victim was identified as L. K. L. K. Made a follow up report that someone had used her stolen identification and a Chase Credit Card to cash a check on or about July 19, 2024, at Chase Bank at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
During the investigation officers learned that B. K.’s fraudulent check had actually been presented to Chase Bank on July 20, 2024. The check was dated July 19, 2024. The check, bearing number 3022, belonged to B. K. And was written out to L. K. Officers collected surveillance footage from the date of offense and observed the suspect to be a white female with dark hair and glasses. Officers distributed a tri-county alert and assisting officers identified the suspect as KARI MARIE KRAFT, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein.
Officers noted that Defendant’s driver’s license does not indicate she wears corrective lenses, and she is not wearing glasses in other known photographs. In the footage, Defendant is seen entering the bank and providing the teller a check, a Minnesota ID, and a black colored credit card. The teller then provides an envelope of $2,000 cash to Defendant.
