On January 28, 2026, at approximately 10:38 P.M., Sergeant Wappes from the Cloquet Police Department was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on 10th Street within the City of Cloquet, County of Carlton, Minnesota. Dispatch advised that a male was intoxicated at the residence and that the reporting party had locked her and her daughter in a bedroom. While en route, Sergeant Wappes made contact with the reporting party via telephone. There, the reporting party was identified as M. B. T., [DOB REDACTED]. While speaking in a hushed voice, M. B. T. Stated that she was still locked in the bedroom with her daughter and that her boyfriend, RYAN RICHARD DAVIDSON, [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter DEFENDANT), was in the residence intoxicated.
Upon arrival, Cloquet police officers made contact with DEFENDANT at the front door. There, they observed that DEFENDANT had poor balance and difficulty walking up the stairs of the residence. Sergeant Wappes then approached the bedroom door and upon announcing his presence, M. B. T. Let him inside. Sergeant Wappes immediately observed a Band-Aid on M. B. T.'s cheek, just below her left eye. M. B. T. Clarified that she had a prior scar there that had reopened a couple of nights ago after DEFENDANT struck her.
She then told Sergeant Wappes what occurred tonight. She stated that she and DEFENDANT got into an argument earlier and that at one point, DEFENDANT grabbed her biceps using both of his hands and pushed her up against the kitchen counter. At this time, Sergeant Wappes observed bruising on her right bicep as well as other faint marks on her left. M. B. T. Then stated that DEFENDANT then threatened to kill her and her daughter. Sergeant Wappes then spoke with M. B. T.'s fourteen-year-old daughter, M. A. T., [DOB REDACTED]. M. A. T. Stated that she observed some of DEFENDANT's actions toward her mother that night and that she ran into the back bedroom because she was afraid.
M. A. T. Also stated that DEFENDANT called M. A. T. "the n- word.
