On March 2, 2026, at approximately 1:37 A.M., officers of the Austin Police Department responded to 606 2nd Avenue NW in the City of Austin, County of Mower, for a physical domestic. The reporting party (Victim A, an adult female) advised that that her boyfriend, ANTONIO DEANTE PERNELL, DOB/052986, the defendant herein, put his hands on her and left in a vehicle. Officer Sovers arrived at the residence and contacted Victim A. Victim A was standing on the side of the road and waved Sovers down. Victim A stated that she was from Chicago and the defendant drove down, picked her up, and brought her back to Austin for a visit.
Victim A stated that she is in a sexual relationship with the defendant. She also stated that they dated previously and recently got back together. Victim A told Officer Sovers that the defendant had been drinking, and they got into an argument. She stated that the defendant does not normally get aggressive when he drinks and has not gotten physical with her in the past. However, on that evening, Victim A said that the defendant slapped her several times on her face. She stated that she could not remember how many times he smacked her, but it was “a lot of times.” Victim A said the defendant also kicked her and on her leg/side three times and spit in her face.
Victim A stated that she felt hurt that “this was happening to me.” She stated that she is not afraid of the defendant until he got alcohol in his system. She stated that during the incident, she was afraid the defendant was going to harm her. Victim A stated that after the defendant assaulted her, she pushed him away and told him to “get away from me.” Victim A stated that the defendant then left, right before law enforcement arrived. Victim A confirmed that 606 2nd Avenue NW was the residence where the incident occurred and that the defendant’s apartment was upstairs.
Her personal property was also located on the front porch of the residence. Victim A also confirmed that G. J. N. (an adult male) is a friend of the defendant’s that lives with him. While Officer Sovers was transporting Victim A to a safe location, Victim A pointed out the defendant’s vehicle, a silver 2006 Dodge Magnum (MN LIC/SYJ816), was parked in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue NW. Sovers observed the vehicle to be unoccupied as they drove past it. Officer Huderle arrived and contacted G. J. N. G. J. N. Denied knowing the defendant.
G. J. N. Stated that he lives in the upstairs apartment (Apartment B), but stated there was a male who lived in the main floor of the apartment (Apartment A). Huderle then knocked on Apartment A and contacted a male who lived there. The male advised that he lived there with his wife and son, denied that the defendant was in the apartment, and allowed law enforcement to search the apartment. After confirming the correct apartment with Victim A, officers went back to Apartment B and contacted G. J. N. Again.
