On November 2nd, 2025 Minneapolis police officers responded to a residence on the 3000 block of pleasant Ave. South, within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota on report of domestic assault related threats. Upon arrival police spoke with the reporting party, and victim who stated her ex-boyfriend, whom she was in a relationship with for 2 years, MAURICE MELANCON CAIRO [DOB REDACTED], herein after “Defendant”, has called her 50 times overnight from the Hennepin County Medical Center threatening her and stating “you better be looking out for me”. Defendant does not currently have a phone but calls the victim from libraries or other publicly available telephones.
Victim described to officers that defendant has been incarcerated for a long period of time for domestic assault against her and now that he is out, he can do what he wants. Officers photographed the call log of victim showing the 50 phone calls. Investigators are aware of 3 current reports by Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant has the following prior felony adjudication or convictions, and qualified domestic abuse related offenses: Violation of No Contact Order in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on August 26, 2024; Violation of a No Contact Order in Henne pin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on August 26, 2024; 3rd Degree Burglary in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 20, 2023; 4th degree Assault on a Police Officer in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 20, 2023; and 1st Degree Burglary in Hennepin County Court file ••-CR-••-•••• on November 3, 2017. Defendant’s whereabouts are unknown.
Based on the seriousness of this case and the possible penalties attached, a warrant is requested to address bail and conditions necessary to protect the public safety and ensure Defendant's reappearance.
