On May 16, 2026 Minneapolis police were on routine patrol near 33rd Street East and Park Avenue South within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin county when they heard gunshots nearby. A ShotSpotter activation also alerted officers that gunfire had occurred. A report of a shooting was received at 3250 5th Avenue South, just blocks away. Officers located one male Victim with at least 2 gunshot wounds to his chest. Victim was transported to the hospital for medical aid after on scene chest seals were completed.
Witness 1 stated Victim, himself and 2 others were in the garage when Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Witness 1 opened the garage door and saw a suspect armed with a handgun. Victim 2 quickly closed the garage door. Shortly after is when Witness 1 heard gunshots. Witness 1 also described seeing the suspects earlier in the day interacting with a black Infiniti sedan with a female driver. Witness 2 described he went outside of the garage to urinate and he saw multiple suspects approaching him and the garage.
Witness 2 heard something like "Stop, we're going to kill you". Witness 2 then started running away until he managed to hide under a car. Officers located 4 discharged cartridge casings (DCCs) in between the house and garage, numerous rounds of live ammunition and a handgun magazine near the street curb, and 4 or 5 DCCs in the alley. Minneapolis police located camera footage capturing the event from a business at 3300 4th Avenue South. At 1:16 AM, less than 10 minutes before the shooting the video shows a black Infiniti sedan parking in front of the business. 4 suspected males exit the vehicle, one of them later identified as FIDEL HERNANDEZ, JR., (DOB; 12/08/2005), herein after Defendant.
Three of the males, including Defendant, soon after are seen in possession of handguns and begin to point the firearms at the street sign of 33rd St E / 4th Av S with laser accessories activated. The fourth male films the group pointing guns. A female driver, later identified as ANGELA HERNANDEZ [DOB REDACTED], herein Co-Defendant., exits the vehicle and films the group of suspect males with a cellphone. At one point, the Co-Defendant is also given two firearms and poses for a photo in front of the black Infiniti.
Defendant and Co-Defendant were believed to have been in a romantic relationship. Co-Defendant then gets back into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and leaves the area briefly leaving the group at the intersection, before returning to the area. When she returns, the vehicle drives by Victim’s residence where the shooting occurred. Moments later, Co-Defendant is heard on the surveillance camera saying “Babe, this guy just showed me his dick. The guy in the alley”. The group of suspect males, including Defendant then run towards the Victim’s residence.
