On November 15, 2025, around 1:20 A.M., law enforcement was on patrol around Highway 10 NW and Foley Boulevard NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County, when they observed a 2019 black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling with a license plate bent, obstructing the identifying characters on the plate. Law enforcement initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and identified the driver as Jason Gordon Soderman [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. Defendant bent the license plate down and officers discovered the license plate did not match the VIN for the motorcycle.
The motorcycle VIN was further checked by law enforcement and showed it was a stolen vehicle out of Minneapolis, Hennepin County. To note, the VIN on the motorcycle was obstructed partially by a zip tie that was going around it. Defendant stated that the motorcycle belonged to his friend J. D. J. D. Was looked up by officers and confirmed to have prior stolen motor vehicle associations, according to their law enforcement database. Officers confirmed the license plate belonged to J. D., but the motorcycle belonged to victim, [NAME REDACTED] Defendant was placed under arrest.
In a search incident to arrest, law enforcement located a tan glasses case in the defendant’s pocket. The case contained about 4.2 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamines. Additionally, defendant’s driving status required him to have ignition interlock on his vehicle. The motorcycle was not equipped with ignition interlock. In a post-Miranda statement, defendant told law enforcement that about two months prior, J. D. Told him to get some property from a female C. B., after J. D. Got arrested.
That property was the motorcycle he was driving. Defendant has a pending felony case for fifth-degree drug possession in Hubbard County from an incident occurring on July 21, 2024, in court file no. ••-CR-••-••••. Defendant also has multiple prior felony convictions for drug crimes: (1) fifth-degree drug possession in Benton County in court file no. 05-CR-22- 1890, conviction date of April 9, 2025; (2) first-degree drug possession in Anoka county in court file no. 02- CR-14-3810, conviction date of December 15, 2014; (3) second-degree drug possession in Chisago County in court file no. ••-CR-••-••••, conviction date of May 27, 2015; (4) fifth-degree drug possession in Pine County in court file no. ••-CR-••-••••, conviction date of March 5, 2015.
