On May 7, 2025, at approximately 1050 hours, Officers on patrol performed a routine license plate check of a vehicle and observed the vehicle to have a KOPS alert. The KOPS alert was for the same color, make, and model of the observed vehicle and had the same license plate number. The KOPS alert requested law enforcement to stop and ID all occupants. Officers investigated the KOPS alert and received a picture of the subject of the KOPS alert. Officers then received approval to conduct a PIT maneuver if necessary and should the safe opportunity to do so arise.
Officers then activated their squad vehicle’s emergency lights and attempted to block off the vehicle as it was traveling towards them down the 2100 block of Aldrich Avenue South, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. As the vehicle neared, Officers observed the driver to be the subject of the KOPS alert, identified as Timothy Stephanzo Kennedy, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The vehicle then fled backwards from the Officers. Officers pursued the vehicle and conducted a PIT maneuver but were unable to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle fled from the Officers. Shortly after, Officers located the vehicle not far from where it fled. Officers approached the vehicle and were able to detain the passenger. Defendant had fled the scene. In a post-Miranda interview, the passenger stated to Officers that Defendant, who is her boyfriend, was the driver of the vehicle during the flee. Defendant’s whereabouts are unknown. Given the nature of the crime and to ensure Defendant’s appearance, a warrant is requested.
