On March 7, 2026, approximately around 4:35 P.M., Minnetonka Police Department Officers received a report of a jewelry theft from Veberod Gem Gallery located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County. Officers spoke with B. T. Who is the operational manager. B. T. Stated that approximately around 4:00 P.M., a male suspect wearing a blue stocking cap and a medical mask entered the store. Accompanying the male suspect was a younger female. B. T. Told officers they reviewed surveillance footage and observed that while the younger female was talking to store staff, the male suspect reached into an unlocked jewelry display case and removed a gold bracelet.
The male suspect then conceals the gold bracelet and slides the jewelry display case closed. The male suspect continues to browse jewelry and selects jewelry for purchase. The male suspect then stated his credit card was not working and left the store with the concealed gold bracelet. B. T. Informed officers the value of the gold bracelet is $1295.00. Police created a BCA crime alert and sent it to the metro area. Police then received information from local law enforcement identifying the male suspect as JAVANTE JESSE SMITH [DOB REDACTED] "Defendant" herein.
Upon further investigation officers were able to compare known photographs of the Defendant to photographs of the male suspect from the Jewelry theft and confirmed the identity of the male suspect as Defendant. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
