On December 20, 2025, at 3:15 A.M. Deputy Sobaszkiewicz observed a vehicle at Holiday at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota. The vehicle was running with lights on parked at a gas pump. The vehicle was in the same position at 3:56 A.M. Causing Deputy Sobaszkiewicz to drive up to the vehicle at which time he observed a female slouched forward in the driver seat. Deputy Sobaszkiewicz observed multiple items of drug paraphernalia in plain view when he approached the vehicle.
The female, later identified as Victoria Catherine Clifton, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, woke up when Deputy Sobaszkiewicz opened the door of the vehicle. The defendant said she did not want to go to jail. The defendant exhibited signs that she was under the influence of a controlled substance in that her movements were slow and lethargic and her eyes were bloodshot and watery. The defendant agreed to perform standard field sobriety tests during which she demonstrated signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
The defendant was arrested for being in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. An inventory search resulted in the recovery of a white rock substance that was consistent with fentanyl weighing.40 grams. The substance field tested inconclusive utilizing the TruNarc laser but under the circumstance of the defendant’s impairment and paraphernalia in the vehicle it appears the substance is fentanyl. Deputy Sobaszkiewicz obtained a search warrant authorizing the taking of a blood or urine sample from the defendant.
A blood sample was obtained from the defendant at the hospital and will be sent to the crime lab for analysis. Court records show the defendant was convicted of DWI in 2024 (••-CR-••-••••).
