, the above-named defendant, and the allegations contained therein. Based upon that information, your complainant believes the following to be true and correct. On June 8, 2026, at approximately 5:42 AM, officers of the Rochester Police Department were dispatched to the Kwik Trip on Marion Road SE in Rochester, on a report of suspicious circumstances. Witness- an adult male fully identified in police reports called to report that he had seen a female with a bloodied face yelling for help from a vehicle.
Ofc. Horton spoke with Witness. Witness said that he saw a male and female together enter the store. When Witness exited the store himself he saw the female was in the back seat of the car with the male driving. The female rolled down the window and yelled "help me, help me, please help." The male driver then drove off quickly down Marion Road. Officers reviewed Kwik Trip surveillance which showed a 2014 Chevy Malibu arrive. A female, Victim- fully identified in police reports, was driving the vehicle.
A male, later identified as Paul Canini Jr. ([DOB REDACTED]), Defendant herein, was in the passenger seat. Both went into the store for items and then returned to the vehicle. While in the car, Defendant reached over quickly from the passenger seat and appeared to strike Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the back seat while Defendant drove away. Victim rolled down the window of the vehicle and appeared to have blood on her face screaming for help. Officers then began searching for the suspect vehicle.
At approximately 6:24 AM, Ofc. Holty approached the intersection of Felty Ave and East Circle Drive and observed the suspect vehicle making a left-hand turn onto Highway 14. Ofc. Holty recognized Defendant driving from the Kwik Trip surveillance video. Ofc. Holty activated his emergency lights while traveling east on Highway 14 and made a U-turn. Defendant immediately began accelerating. Ofc. Holty was reaching 90 MPH and Defendant was still gaining distance. The vehicle approached 12th Street SE and Marion Rd at an accelerated speed with the traffic light appeared to be red.
The vehicle tried to pass between two vehicles, but collided with one of them. The vehicle attempted to continue, but then stopped in the middle of the intersection. Defendant emerged from the driver's seat and began running westbound on foot. Ofc. Holty and Ofc. Xiong pursued and took Defendant into custody. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the vehicle and was in a state of panic, so officers waited until she was at the hospital before taking a statement. Ofc. Mendoza spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim had two open wounds under the right side of Victim's bottom lip.
Ofc. Mendoza also saw that Victim had visible red marks and discoloration on her neck. Victim reported that she traveled with Defendant, who she described as an ex-boyfriend of hers, from Illinois to pick up a member of his family and visit other members of his family. While Defendant was visiting family, Victim [NAME REDACTED] went to a gas station. Defendant later arrived. The two went into the store together and made purchases. Defendant made a comment about Victim parking in front of the gas station doors.
