On December 24, 2025, officers were dispatched to the report of theft from Macy’s at the Mall of America at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival officers learned that JOIE MARLEENA SCHILLING, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, had been stopped by loss prevention. Officers learned that Defendant had entered the store and concealed merchandise in a bag. She then passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise she had concealed. When loss prevention stopped Defendant and brought her back to the store, loss prevention recovered $2,592.50 worth of merchandise.
When officers arrived to place Defendant under arrest she claimed she had swallowed heroin. Officers confirmed that Defendant had been under constant supervision and had not been observed to be ingesting drugs. Defendant was then transported to the Bloomington Police Department and upon arrival again reported that she had swallowed heroin in the back of the squad car. Defendant was transported to the hospital and was then booked. Defendant remains in custody.
